N,N'-Dicyclohexylthiourea and N,N'-Diphenylthiourea Complexes of Cobalt(II)
The N,N'-dicyclohexylthiourea (DCTU) and N,N'-diphenylthiourea (DPTU) complexes of Co(II) have been investigated. In organic solvents four-coordinated tetrahedral (or pseudo-tetrahedral) species are formed. Evidence is presented to indicate that both ligands undergo a structural change in...

The N,N'-dicyclohexylthiourea (DCTU) and N,N'-diphenylthiourea (DPTU) complexes of Co(II) have been investigated. In organic solvents four-coordinated tetrahedral (or pseudo-tetrahedral) species are formed. Evidence is presented to indicate that both ligands undergo a structural change in solution (postulated to be a cis-trans isomerism) which affects their coordinating tendencies. The solid complexes [Co(DCTU)6]X2 (X = NO3, ClO4) involve octahedrally-coordinated Co(II), providing the first examples of six-coordinated Co(II) complexes containing solely unidentate sulfur ligands. The factors governing the coordination number of the complexes, both in solid state and in solution, are discussed. © 1965, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved. Fil:Levitus, R.
