Sumario:A perturbative expansion for Chirgwing and Coulson's and Löwdin's definitions of bond order is obtained, introducing explicitly the commutator [H, S]. Projection operator formalism is used in the development of the perturbation theory. Recurrence formulae are obtained for the corrections up to any order.
