This brief paper presents a shallow contextualization of Hansgeorg Winkler’s article about the rock-art depictions registered by himself in Puerta de Talampaya site. The value of his contribution, whose translation is also exhibited here, lies in the fact that the research of this german naturalist was carried out during the 1960’s, when the rock-art in the province of La Rioja (Argentina) started to be known through the work of Francisco de Aparicio y Julián Cáceres Freyre.
