| Sumario: | At the South of the Spanish Empire, River Plate’s area was the far-off Habsbourg’s bastion. Until 1617 it was under Paraguay’s governorship jurisdiction and by Buenos Aires’ governorship since then. From 1580 Juan de Garay’s team through encomienda system built a settlement. This paper deals with the development process of such a settlement for the earlier period. Beginning from the arrival, we intent to indentify the encomenderos and their position when Buenos Aires’ governorship was established. |
