| Sumario: | The first post-dictatorship government and the teachers’ trade unions set political and unionist agendas that were strongly conditioned by the return to democracy and the expectations generated by such development. These historical factors undoubtedly influenced the decisions and actions undertaken by teachers both in the province of Santa Fe and at national level. In this paper, we will focus on studying the conflicts between Asociación de Magisterio de Santa Fe and the governments as well as the actions taken from 1983 to 1989 by the teachers’ trade union against the educational policies. We are interested in analyzing the characteristics that discussions and conflicts had in such period, the different causes that mobilized teachers affiliated to AMSAFE, the channels of negotiation used as well as the main claims and requests made. We aim to detect the collective actions carried out by teachers to oppose ministerial policies and to infer the possible reasons for the conflictive processes occurring in the historical period under study.
