Analizing the results obteined it can be concluded, among others, that students know the ecuation E= mc2 but not its meaning; they believe that they can 't exceed the speed of light nor travel to the past and that the Universe began a long time ago and has no limits. Most of these ideas have been acquired on a social context and must be considered for educational planning. A través de una encuesta realizada a alumnos de 4° y 5° año de la actual escuela media de todo el país, se indagó sobre sus ideas acerca de conceptos relacionados con el Universo y la Relati~idad. Del análisis de los resultados obtenidos se concluye, entre otras cosas, que conocen la ecuación E=mc2 aunque no interpretan su significado; que creen que no puede superarse la velocidad de la luz ni volver al pasado y que el Universo comenzó hace mucho tiempo y no tiene límites. Estas ideas han sido adquiridas, en su mayor parte, del contexto social y deben ser tenidas en cuenta para el diseño de acciones educativas.
