Its meaning was striking enough that one of the authors of this note, with only 15 years of age and after reading the article, undertook a journey of tens of kilometers by bicycle, just to know the site and using the magazine Comechingonia No. 4 (1984) as GPS. The other author remained obsessed for years with analyzing the archaeological and fauna remains of the site, of which only general data on the presence / absence of certain species had been published. Until he finally had access to them, to carry out his bachelor thesis at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires. Some time later, Dr. Eduardo Berberián, researcher of the site and co-director of the thesis, commented something like: "This boy speaks of Potrero de Garay as if he were Teotihuacán". But, beyond the exaggerated comparison, Potrero de Garay is really a site that marked an unprecedented milestone in regional archeology, and even today it occupies a central place in the investigation of the Late Pre-Hispanic Period. Sin dudas, Potrero de Garay es un sitio clásico para quienes hacemos investigaciones arqueológicas en las Sierras de Córdoba (Argentina). Su significado fue lo suficientemente impactante como para que uno de los autores de esta nota, con sólo 15 años de edad y luego de leer el artículo, emprendiera una travesía de decenas de kilómetros en bicicleta, sólo para conocer el sitio y utilizando la revista Comechingonia nº 4 (1984) como GPS. El otro autor permaneció años obsesionado con analizar los restos arqueofaunísticos del sitio, de los cuales sólo se habían publicado datos generales sobre la presencia/ausencia de ciertas especies. Hasta que finalmente tuvo acceso a los mismos, para realizar su tesina de licenciatura en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Tiempo después el Dr. Eduardo Berberián, investigador del sitio y co-director de la tesina, comentó algo así como: “este chico habla de Potrero de Garay como si fuera Teotihuacán”. Pero, más allá de la exagerada comparación, Potrero de Garay es realmente un sitio que marcó un hito sin antecedentes en la arqueología regional, e incluso hoy ocupa un lugar central en la investigación del Período Prehispánico Tardío.
