The samples came from Ingeniero Juarez in Formosa. Wood and bark samples of 5 mature individuals were taken at 1,30 m height. The terminology of wood anatomical characters follows the recommendations of the IAWA Committee. External bark of A. triternatum is scaly with irregular, right-angled or isodiametric  scales, and deep fissures with rounded ridges. The Wood is white- yellow to dark-yellow, without sapwood-heartwood distinction. The grain is oblique to interlock and fine textured. Growths rings boundaries are  scarcely marked by thick-wall and radially flattened fibers. The wood is diffuse- orous not uniform, with  numerous solitary vessels with elliptic outline. The axial parenchyma is apotracheal diffuse to reticulate. The rays are numerous mostly triseriates and homocellular, occasionally aggregates rays present. The fibers and fiber tracheids are medium with thick walls and distinctly bordered pits in some sectors. Wood anatomy structure of Aspidosperma triternatum follows the general pattern of the family Apocynaceae, and shows similar characteristics of the others Aspidospermas of Argentina.   El presente trabajo tiene como objetivos describir las características dendrológicas y la anatomía del xilema secundario de A. triternatum, N. Rojas Apocynaceae, árbol endémico del Chaco Húmedo de Argentina y Paraguay. Las muestran provienen de la localidad de Ingeniero Juárez, Formosa. Muestras de madera y corteza de 5 individuos adultos, se extrajeron del fuste a 1,30 m de altura. Las  descripciones anatómicas se realizaron siguiendo la terminología del Comité de IAWA. A. triternatum tiene corteza en placas, rectangulares a isodiametricas. La madera, es color blanco - amarillento a ocre no presenta distinción entre albura y duramen, posee textura fina homogénea y grano oblicuo a entrelazado. Los anillos de crecimiento están escasamente demarcados por una banda de fibras radialmente aplastadas y con paredes engrosadas. La porosidad es difusa no uniforme, con numerosos vasos solitarios de contorno oval. El parénquima axial es apotraqueal difuso y difuso en agregados  a reticulado. Los radios son numerosos, comúnmente triseriados, homocelulares, ocasionalmente  agregados. Las fibras y fibrotraqueidas son medianas, con paredes engrosadas y puntuaciones  rebordeadas. La anatomía del xilema secundario de Aspidosperma triternatum sigue el patrón general  descripto para la familia Apocinácea y presenta características xilológicas similares a las restantes  especies del género que vegetan en Argentina.
