| Sumario: | The purpose of this paper is to establish some lines of analysis in relation to the application of justice in Córdoba based on the data obtained for the crimes of "cattle rustling" in the period 1785-1790. The documentation used consists of 45 criminal files from the Books of Crime, covering the districts of Ischilín, San Javier, Calamuchita, Punilla, Río Cuarto, Río Primero, Río Segundo and Río Tercero, that is, a large part of the Córdoba countryside, during the first five years of the government of the Marquis of Sobremonte of the Governorate of Córdoba. During this period, a series of centralist measures of the Bourbon administration in relation to the application of justice stand out. The reduced period and the singularity of the crime investigated will allow us, for the moment, to mark some tendencies and to ask ourselves certain questions that we intend to consolidate with an extension in time and an extension in the documentary corpus. For this reason, we have tried at this stage to make an intensive reading of the basic source, with particular emphasis on empirical work. Notwithstanding this, and considering that the subject is part of a macro project, the questions and problems underlie a theoretical framework centered on the conceptualization of the practice of justice as a form of exercising power. |
