| Sumario: | This article attempts to address the correspondence that Eduardo Ladislao Holmberg maintained with the National Academy of Sciences in his capacity as full member, from the perspective of Written Culture. The letters have the particularity of transcending academic formalities to offer information about events that occurred in Buenos Aires, and even play pranks on other scientists. Its informality is also transferred to the supports of writing.
The correspondence has, in turn, a purpose that goes beyond what is written, because it also forms a strategy carried out by the author -as a social actor immersed in an institution-, which must be addressed with complementary material: publications and letters addressed to the institution by third parties involved. In this way, Holmberg's unusual behavior in the Academy can be appreciated in greater depth.
Key words: Written Culture, correspondence, Eduardo Holmberg, National Academy of Sciences (Argentina).
