| Sumario: | This article presents an overview of the glottopolitical actions of some Cape Verdean associations in Buenos Aires. Through a survey of the social networks of the aforementioned associations, interviews and field notes, we analyse the actions taken in recent years to promote the Cape Verdean language in Argentina. The case of Cape Verdeans and their descendants in Argentina allows us to investigate the strategies of Cape Verdean immigrants in relation to the language policies of the host society in dialogue with Cape Verdean language policies. The use of the Cape Verdean language takes on a symbolic meaning in the shaping of Cape Verdeanness in the Cape Verdean diaspora. |
