| Sumario: | The article explores the role played by female beauty in Argentine mass culture by drawing upon Isabel Sarli’s trajectory. In doing so it analyses practices, meanings and visual representations coming from two types of mass cultural commodities: beauty contents and commercial modelling. Drawing on advertising, photography, editorial office archive, film and women’s magazines, newscasts, and memoirs it argues that beauty notions were transformed into professional and commercial practice as a result of its connection to the market and the convergence of mass consumption technologies. |
