Sumario:It can be affirmed that in recent years there has been an animated turn in documentary cinema; that is, increasing use of animation to represent reality. This article sets out to problematize this shift based on what at first sight may seem an oxymoron: animation as a cinema of the real. In this direction, we will ask how to understand and determine the animated documentary, what characteristics it has, and what are its expressive possibilities. Finally, if we examine its potential, it is also important to be able to think about its limits.
