Reproducing Armantrout’s formal and semantic effects in the translated versions of her poetry into Spanish is, undoubtedly, a complex task that requires multiple rewritings and creative strategies. Every translation implies a reintegration in the importing culture that needs changes or “shifts” of different kinds: obligatory – those that have to do with the different structures the original and the receiving languages present – and non-obligatory – those introduced by the translator, unrelated to the differences between languages. In addition, every rewriting, if we understand the translation process as a creative process that derives from the dialogic interplay between texts, implies an experiment of omission and emphasis that must consider the phono-morphological, syntactic, semantic, and metrical dimensions. This study analyzes these translation issues in the rewriting in Spanish of Versed (2009), Armantrout’s anthology recognized with the Pulitzer Prize of Poetry in 2010, with the objective of considering the changes and adaptations that take place in the translated versions of this poet’s work. La poesía de Rae Armantrout, escritora posmoderna estadounidense, se caracteriza por su conformación heteroglósica y una estética que se basa en la exploración de las palabras y sus significados. Reproducir los efectos estéticos y semánticos de Armantrout en las versiones de sus poemas traducidos al castellano es sin duda una tarea compleja que requiere continuas reescrituras y exige estrategias creativas. Toda traducción implica una reinserción en la cultura importadora que necesita transformaciones, cambios obligatorios – que se atribuyen a las distintas estructuras de la lengua de partida y la lengua meta – y cambios no obligatorios – introducidos por el traductor pero que no derivan de las diferencias entre lenguas. Además, toda reescritura, si entendemos el proceso traslaticio como un proceso creativo que surge de una orquestación dialógica entre textos, supone un experimento de omisiones y enfásis que debe considerar las dimensiones fónico- morfológica, sintáctica, temática, y métrica. Este estudio analiza estas cuestiones traductológicas en la reescritura en castellano de Versed (2009), la antología de Armantrout que recibiera el Premio Pulitzer de Poesía en 2010, con el objetivo de considerar las modificaciones y adaptaciones que surgen de la reescritura de la poesía de esta autora en otra lengua.
