Donzis Andrea Gastrón Regionalismo MERCOSUR Viabilidad regional Integración Latinoamericana En las últimas décadas la comunidad internacional asiste a un cambio de época caracterizado por modificaciones sustantivas en el orden mundial que se reflejan en la redistribución del poder global: de la unipolaridad hegemónica se transita de manera lenta pero sostenida hacia una difusión de centros decisorios. En tal contexto, deviene menester reflexionar sobre las características del nuevo sistema mundial y la viabilidad de la integración latinoamericana, en general, y del MERCOSUR, en particular. Luego de presentar las principales características que ofrece el actual contexto internacional y regional, se hace una breve referencia a la idea de la integración a lo largo de la historia de la región. Finalmente, se reflexiona sobre las alternativas autonómicas para la región y el MERCOSUR refiriendo a la unión de Argentina y Brasil como básica para la unidad del Estado Continental sudamericano. Se resalta la importancia de la opción política como camino a transitar. In last decades the international community is going through an epochal change characterized by substantive changes in the world order that are reflected in the redistribution of global power: it moves slowly but steadily from the hegemonic unipolarity towards a plurality of centers. In this context, it is necessary to reflect on the characteristics of the new world system and on the viability of Latin American integration and of MERCOSUR. After presenting the main characteristics of the current international and regional context, a brief reference to the idea of integration throughout the history of the region is delivered. Finally, the paper reflects on the autonomic alternatives for the region and the MERCOSUR referring to the union of Argentina and Brazil as basic for the unity of the South-American Continental State. It highlights the importance of the political way as the one to choose.
