Undoubtedly, he is a figure of indisputable significance for both the vast historiographical body of work he has produced throughout his career and his monumental contribution to the preservation of the documentary, bibliographic, and periodical heritage of American architecture and urbanism. The Center of Latin American Architectural Documentation (CEDODAL) that he founded in Buenos Aires in 1995, stands as the institution that bears witness to his work.The dialogue with Ramón enriches the discussion and broadens both the focus and the approach to the topic addressed in this issue of A&P Continuidad. This is so not only because it highlights the immense task involved in building an archive of such magnitude, but also because it sheds light on the critical and deeply committed perspective with which he carries out this endeavor.   Esta conversación con Ramón Gutiérrez permite encuadrar y problematizar la importancia de los archivos en el campo de la cultura arquitectónica latinoamericana. Sin dudas se trata de una personalidad de indiscutible trascendencia, tanto por el enorme espacio de producción historiográfica que generó a lo largo de su trayectoria, como por su colosal aporte a la conservación del patrimonio documental, bibliográfico y hemerográfico de la arquitectura y el urbanismo americanos. El Centro de Documentación de Arquitectura Latinoamericana (CEDODAL) que fundó en Buenos Aires en 1995, es la institución señera que da cuenta de su obra.El diálogo con Ramón enriquece los argumentos y permite ampliar el enfoque y el abordaje sobre la cuestión a la que está dedicado este número de A&P Continuidad. Esto es así no solo porque deja en evidencia la ingente tarea que implica construir un archivo de esa magnitud, sino porque esclarece la perspectiva crítica y comprometida con que cabe llevar adelante el cometido.
