The article contrasts the assessment made by each of these intellectuals on the war and on the place that women occupy in these processes; In the same way, the tensions between their discursive proposals and the situation in which each of their countries found themselves at the time of the publication of the texts are reviewed. This will show how dramaturgy functioned as an ideal platform to escape from certain prescriptions of the Latin American literary field at the end of the century, in which the figure of the female author was not fully assumed as a possibility of existence for women. Este artículo analiza el diálogo con el régimen sentimental dominante que se produce en tres obras teatrales latinoamericanas publicadas entre 1878 y 1885: María de Vellido [sic], de la tacneña Carolina Freire de Jaimes (1878); Las víctimas de la guerra, de la colombiana Soledad Acosta de Samper (1884); y María o el despotismo, de la venezolana Lina López de Aramburú (1885). Se busca, por una parte, contrastar la valoración que hace cada una de estas intelectuales del fenómeno de la guerra y del lugar que ellas asignan a las mujeres en estos procesos; de igual forma, se revisan las tensiones entre sus propuestas discursivas y la situación en la que se encontraban los países al momento de publicación de los textos. Esto permitirá descubrir cómo la dramaturgia se convierte en una plataforma ideal para escapar de ciertas prescripciones del campo literario latinoamericano de fin de siglo, en el que no se terminaba de asumir la figura de la autora como una posibilidad de existencia para las mujeres.
