It questions the relevance of characterizing this phenomenon as a new authoritarian individualism, based on the analysis of the anti-quarantine movement in Argentina, focusing on Latin American specificity but also taking up some general debates around studies on the authoritarian personality and modes of neoliberal subjectivation, which allow us to think about the paradoxical nature of the advance of consumer society and the triumph of the market economy. The aim is to update these discussions in the light of the discursive re-articulations implied by the Covid-19 pandemic. Este artículo plantea un recorrido por la reflexión académica acerca del presente auge de las nuevas derechas extremas que atraviesa el escenario político occidental, poniendo en crisis a la democracia liberal. Se pregunta por la pertinencia de caracterizar este fenómeno como un nuevo individualismo autoritario, a partir del análisis del movimiento anticuarentena en la Argentina, poniendo el foco en una especificidad latinoamericana pero también retomando algunos debates generales en torno a los estudios sobre la personalidad autoritaria y los modos de subjetivación neoliberal, que permiten pensar el carácter paradojal del avance de la sociedad de consumo y del triunfo de la economía de mercado. Se apunta a reactualizar estas discusiones a la luz de las re-articulaciones discursivas que implicó la pandemia de Covid-19.
