| Sumario: | In this paper we present the results of an interdisciplinary research project on social order and its intellectuals carried out in the city of Querétaro, Mexico. We traced – between the second half of 19th Century and the seventies of the 20th Century– two elements which are part of the hegemonic social order: peace and fear of otherness, which are currently reflected in a reiterative discourse which points fingers to national migrants residing in the city as responsible for certain “evils” in it. We identified the intellectuals of such social order to analyze how, by means of a number of social mechanisms, they reproduced these elements and operated in different events of historical local relevance, attaining the hegemony of the aforementioned elements throughout the period. . |
