| Sumario: | The purpose of this article is to describe and analyze the emergence of the pandemic in Qom neighborhoods of the Metropolitan Area of Resistencia (formed by Resistencia, Fontana, Barranqueras and Puerto Vilelas), by examining the interventions developed by the provincial and national state government, and those carried out by the communities, and the way in which the presence of COVID-19 visibilized economic, sanitary and social inequalities. We will address the topic from a social and anthropological approach taking into account the specificity of indigenous health and the historical situation which is characterized by conflict and tension between Qom people and the surrounding society. Furthermore, we take into consideration a history of alterity marked by dispossession of territory and resources, and also the notion of syndemics, the adverse interaction of chronic and infectious diseases and COVID-19, and structural violence. This article is based on field work research, including interviews, observation and participation in the neighborhoods of Area Gran Toba, Mapic and Cacique Pelayo. |
