Psychological illnesses are on the rise, affecting both working people and the student population. Anxiety and stress are the main mental disorders affecting university students, impacting their quality of life and school performance. The purpose of this research is to determine the factors that trigger stress and anxiety in students of the Economic-Administrative area of the Universidad Veracruzana, Xalapa area. A sample of 388 students was obtained by applying a two-stage cluster sampling. The analysis of the information provided by the sample showed that Pearson's correlation, with 95% confidence, showed that anxiety depends 61.33% on stress, while the canonical correlation showed a higher percentage, identifying the relevant items. In addition, it was found that affected women exceeded the percentage of men by more than 6.2 %, and the stress and anxiety triggers were: having a partner, working, having failed in some educational experience and having been a victim of an assault in the last six months. In addition, of the academic stressors identified, having failed a subject in the previous semester is 2 times more likely for the student to suffer from both diseases. |
