| Sumario: | This article analyzes the challenges and strategies implemented by school administration teams at various secondary schools in Argentina to address the problem of school dropout. It is based on the premise that educational management is an intentional process that combines political and pragmatic decisions to ensure the effective retention and graduation of students.
The study is based on research conducted by the FLACSO Argentina Youth Program and the University of Salvador between 2021 and 2026.
One of the key aspects analyzed is the role of educational management in decision-making to support and sustain school progress. It is evident that many management strategies go beyond institutional regulations, adapting to students' needs through flexible school formats, personalized tutoring, and coordination with social policies. However, it is emphasized throughout the article that social policies aimed at preventing school dropouts vary widely in their duration, objectives, and target audiences, leading them to end up functioning as temporary "band-aids" without addressing the problem in all its complexity. In this context, one of the key actors emerging from the voices of school principals as the main remedy for these situations is the tutors, who are key players in supporting and monitoring students by building close ties with them and their families. |
