| Sumario: | This work presents the results of a master’s thesis, for which fieldwork was conducted during the period 2020-2021. Life history interviews were carried out with travesti and trans femininities residing in the northwest of Greater Buenos Aires. These life stories were analyzed, using Law No. 26,743 on Gender Identity (LIG), enacted in 2012, as a turning point in travesti and trans trajectories. This article focuses on one of the milestones of these trajectories: the search for a travestite and trans identity reference framework. Drawing on the notion of generation as a category of experience, two generations will be identified based on the historical moment in which travestite socialization took place: Pre-LIG and Post-LIG. The aim is to describe this search for identity construction for each generation, outlining the ruptures and continuities for both historical moments. |
