| Sumario: | This paper takes up Degree Research Project, entitled The Professional Intervention of Social Work in Unidad Penal N.º 15: a Perspective from the South and the Paradigm of Human Rights, presented within the framework of the Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, Argentina. Thus, this research challenges how social workers intervene in Unidad Penal N.º 15 of Batán’s penitentiary, Mar del Plata, which belongs to the Sistema Penitenciario Bonaerense. For this purpose, from a qualitative methodological approach (Sautu, 2005) we intend to investigate the presence or absence of the Human Rights perspective in professional interventions, to learn about the professionals’ intervention strategies and autonomy and propose a characterization of the Servicio Penitenciario Bonaerense. From all this, we observed that both the professionals and the people who inhabit it are made from the production and reproduction of the mechanisms of invisibilization of the prison as a modern institution. We hope that the discomfort that may arise from this Degree Research Project mobilizes us, as a professional collective and activists against punitivism, to build new possibilities in this context. |
