| Sumario: | This article analyzes the model of social Catholicism put into practice in the diocese of Paraná, particularly during the bishopric of Abel Bazán y Bustos (1910-1926). On one hand, the "social question" problem is addressed from some writings and initiatives of the bishop, both at the diocesan and parish levels. While on the other, an approach to the parish dynamics from the city of Nogoyá allows us to observe both the problems of the "social question" and the Catholicism‟s actions from one of its organizations, the Workers' Circles. In conclusion, it is argued that the Catholic Church makes use of a modern grammar, often shared by left-wing groups in a battle that is also being fought culturally. In relation to this, unlike other associations, the Catholic Workers' Circle of Nogoyá seems to acquire, at least during the analyzed period, a certain commitment to the working-class struggle. |
