The review is structured around two key dimensions of political representation: the descriptive –concerning the composition of legislative bodies– and the substantive –concerning legislative activity. How have these dimensions of representation been treated in the literature? Which of them has predominated in the various analyses? What aspects remain unexplored? It includes studies addressing the national, provincial, and municipal levels of government. Este trabajo presenta un recorrido por la bibliografía que abordó la representación política de las mujeres en Argentina entre 1919 –año de la primera candidatura de Julieta Lanteri a un cargo legislativo– y el inicio de la última dictadura militar en 1976. La revisión se organiza en torno a las dimensiones descriptiva –composición del parlamento– y sustantiva –labor legislativa– de la representación política. ¿Cómo han sido abordadas en la bibliografía académica estas dimensiones de la representación? ¿Cuál de ellas preponderó en los análisis? ¿Qué aspectos permanecen aún inexplorados? Se consideran estudios referidos a los niveles nacional, provincial y municipal.
