Sumario:Since education is a major factor in economic and social development, what determines school assistance is a major question that must receive special attention. We use the sample of children aged 6 to 17 from the Mexican Survey. We try to find what are the major factors determining school assistance, part-time or full time work. Here, working also implies home duties, even if these are unpaid. We found that family background and its economic and wealth situation play an important role in the decisions. We also found that girls older than 14 years old are less likely to work than boys.
