Sumario:Indian women are playing an unprecedented role in Ecuador's democratic renewal, says Marta Bulnes V., ecuatorian professor. Through the testimonies of Quichua women, whose speeches relate their people's lives, sufferings and struggles, she focus on how they respond to the significant challenges confronting them: to unite and organize to be strong; to recuperate and revitalize the language and culture to reaffirm identity; to persist in the fight against oppression and discrimination; and finally, to contribute towards reforming the state to make it more inclusive and solidary.
