description This article shows the use of public, political space, through the Press, in Cartagena, at the middle of the 19th century. Since the newspapers of this city publicized the Liberal Revolution and the Administration of the 7th of March of General José Hilario López, they illustrate the conflicts of opinion reflected in the journalistic activity of key events of the period, such as, for example, democratic participation and the forms of political socialization.
