Sumario:This paper presents the interval arithmetic in a vector processing environment and its applicatioh in order to solve real problerns of science and engineering. Thus, we propose a computational tool, libavi.a, including interval arithmetic and vector processing.lt is part of a project that aims to develop a highperformance arithmetic that'provides not onIyan increase ofthe processing speed through vectorization, .but also accuracy and error control in the operations by using interval arithmetic. In this work it is presented the basic module ofthis libraryas well as its interface.
