Sumario:The ecological camp as a university extension project emerged in 2001 from the subject Sociology and Environmental Education in the course Environmental Engineering in the Agronomic Engineering School at National University of the East. It was designed as an environmental education strategy aimed at adolescents and young people from Alto Paraná (Paraguay) for them to acquire environmental values. The purpose is to encourage participants to get knowledge, attitudes and skills to deal with the mitigation of environmental problems. Each camp has a different organization, its own goals, specific topic and focus. They are developed in the Agronomic Engineering School at National University of the East. The participants are from different educational institutions in Alto Paraná. Camp activities include educational talks and workshops, sports, recreational and integrating games, documental, competitions, library research and artistic festivals, among others. The positive results are shown by the ten ecological camps that have already been made thanks to an effective coordination between the Agronomic Engineering School at National University of the East and the community, the efficient coordination among institutions of Basic School Education level, the development of learning skills in campers and organizers, the community’s active participation in artistic and cultural festival, the harmonious integration of the participants, favorable experiences in contact with nature, t trees and the apparent internalization of environmental values among others.
