Sumario:Although it brought together men of diverse backgrounds, the Society of Jesus developed general mechanisms that persisted over time. Through agreements with the Spanish and Portuguese empires, the Jesuits deployed a global network that exercise control over colonial populations. This book analyzes the impact of this presence in Iberian America, from colonial times to the present. This book is the result of a partnership between the Universidade Salgado de Oliveira (Brazil) and the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (Argentina). Based on multidisciplinary approaches and perspectives, the authors of this volume have devoted themselves to the study of economic, cultural, political, social, educational and religious aspects of the Society and its impact on each of the societies where it developed its activity.
