Sumario:It is found that is unnecessary to deal with circumstellar shells to explain the apparent correlation between reddening and luminosity in young stellar groups. The simple combination of the luminosity function and a color excess distribution can reproduce the observed appearance of the luminosity vs. color excess diagram of Cygnus II including the lack of little reddened high luminosity stars.
