Sumario:Euripides' Cyclops is the only written and presented satyr drama from the fifth century BC which we know completely, so it is used as a reference. The gender is marked by its noisy chorus of satyrs and the old Silenus as their father. The only complete translation into Brazilian Portuguese was made in prose in the 1980's, by the Hellenistic Junito Brandao. Therefore, in order to provoke reflections on the play and the gender, and also to update its reception, this paper proposes a new translation for the prologue of the Cyclops, in verse.
