| Sumario: | In Argentina, protected natural areas face significant management challenges due to governance difficulties and socio-ecological threats derived from extractive activities. The aim of this study is to analyze the incidence of three environmental conflicts on the provision of ecosystem services in the Mar Chiquita Reserve, located on the coast of Buenos Aires Province: the use of agrochemicals on crops, illegal sand extraction, and urbanization within the reserve. The premise is that these controversies, sometimes manifested in conflicts, affect to a greater or lesser extent the provision of ecosystem services that the reserve provides for human well-being. A mixed- methodology was used to identify ecosystem services and to provide an initial approach to conflicts from the perspective of the local community and municipal management actors. Among the results, it is highlighted that conflicts have a positive impact on cultural ecosystem services linked to a sense of belonging and an interest in the conservation of the reserve. |
