Sumario:Knowing the species present in a protected natural area is essential to correctly assess diversity and plan its management. The Protected Natural Area "La Esmeralda" is a private project located in the center-east of the province of Entre Ríos (Argentina), managed as a Multiple Use Reserve. It conserves relicts of native forests with a high level of conservation in a region with a high level of fragmentation. The aim of the work was to make an inventory of the mammals of the PNA "La Esmeralda" over four years of periodic surveys. 34 species of mammals were recorded, all representative of the environments that are protected in the reserve. A wealth greater than 50% of that mentioned for the province of Entre Ríos was obtained, including Mazama gouazopira, declared a Natural Monument. It is a preliminary inventory that will be periodically updated with new records from camera traps as well as from specific samples. The present and future seek a sustainable production that cares for the environment by conserving faunal resources such as mammals. Knowledge of this registry allows improving educational actions that integrate neighboring communities.
