Sumario:Psoas muscle abscess is an infectious pathology, of low incidence, with non-specific clinical presentation, which makes diagnosis difficult and increases the possibility of generating complications with high morbidity and mortality. Its diagnosis is made by ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or computed axial tomography (CAT), the latter being the most effective method. The origin of the abscess can be primary, when an infectious focus cannot be determined, and secondary, when the same, contiguous or distant source is evident. The etiology is diverse and  not  very  clear.  The objective of  this work is to report a  rare case of extraintestinal salmonellosis in an adult patient, type II diabetic, who attended a medical consultation due to pain in the right inner thigh. Psoas abscess was diagnosed by CT and the isolated microorganism was Salmonella non typhi, typhimurium serovar. It was considered extremely important to suspect this pathology and determine its etiology, in order to establish the appropriate treatment as quickly as possible due to its severity.
