Without ignoring other manifestations of design that were internationally widespread, reached different levels of recognition, and became true icons, this article especially reflects on the movement of pieces of furniture. Beyond the movement that the piece itself may have, either its movement from one place to another or the internal movements that allow it to reduce or expand its size, such as folding, rolling, turning, balancing−, this reflection focuses on those pieces of furniture whose forms suggest movement. Reference will not be made, therefore, to the piece’s movement itself, which may not exist, but rather to the movement that evokes its form, anticipates it, or keeps it in suspense. We will address a potential movement, a situation of the object that could occur and is captured by our senses –especially vision– and our imagination. This condition, raised as a research premise, opens the field of analysis to a series of objects in which this property is detected –potential or suggested movement– and achieved through different design resources generally associated with the form management. |

Sem ignorar outras manifestações do design que tiveram divulgação internacional e alcançaram diferentes níveis de reconhecimento, tornando-se verdadeiros ícones, este artigo reflete, especialmente, sobre o tema da movimentação de objetos de mobiliário. Para além do movimento que o próprio objeto pode ter, seja aquele que permite movê-lo de um lugar para outro, seja dos movimentos internos que lhe permitem reduzir ou ampliar o seu tamanho − como dobrar, rolar, girar, equilíbrio −, para efeitos desta reflexão, estamos interessados em casos cujas formas sugerem movimento. Não se fará referência, portanto, ao próprio movimento do objeto, que o pode ter ou não, mas sim ao movimento que evoca a sua forma, o antecipa ou o mantém em suspense. Estaríamos falando de um movimento potencial, de uma situação do objeto que poderia ocorrer, captada pelos nossos sentidos – principalmente a visão – e pela nossa imaginação. Esta condição, apresentada como premissa da pesquisa, abre o campo de análise a uma série de objetos nos quais se detecta esta propriedade –movimento potencial ou sugerido – conseguida através de diferentes recursos de design geralmente associados à gestão da forma. Sin desconocer otras manifestaciones del diseño que tuvieron difusión internacional y alcanzaron diferentes niveles de reconocimiento, transformándose en verdaderos íconos, este artículo reflexiona, especialmente, sobre el tema del movimiento de los objetos de mobiliario. Más allá del movimiento que pueda tener el objeto en sí, ya sea el que posibilita su traslado de un lugar a otro, o el interno, que le permite reducir o ampliar su tamaño —tales como el plegado, enrollado, giro, balance—, a los efectos de esta reflexión, interesan los casos cuyas formas sugieren movimiento. No se hará referencia, pues, al movimiento propio del objeto, que podrá tenerlo o no, sino al movimiento que evoca su forma, lo anticipa o lo mantiene en suspenso. Estaríamos hablando de un movimiento potencial, una situación del objeto que podría llegar a ocurrir, captado por nuestros sentidos −en particular por la visión— y nuestra imaginación. Esta condición, planteada como premisa de la investigación, abre el campo de análisis a una serie de objetos en los que se detecta esta propiedad —movimiento potencial o sugerido— alcanzada a través de distintos recursos de diseño asociados por lo general al manejo de la forma.
