| Sumario: | In previous articles, we analyzed the harmonic resources in the work of L.A. Spinetta (Recursos Spinetteanos, 2019) and identified the Modal Exchange of the Relative as a unique tool of his aesthetics. In this article, we propose, in the first instance, to explore the definition of this resource and its theoretical scope as a particular type of relationship between mediants. Secondly, we will analyze popular music songs by authors prior to or contemporary with L.A. Spinetta and compare their different uses and aesthetic results. Finally, we will develop a classification of the various applications and possibilities of this harmonic tool. We believe that this research can contribute to the understanding of Anglo and Latin American music and, at the same time, contribute to a theory of harmony in popular music. |
