Sumario:One way to enrich the corpus of Afro–Argentine music and Afro–Argentine–related music is to re–examine published and unpublished scientific works, as they may contain interesting information that, when collected using other theoretical frameworks, approaches, and ideologies, is not presented or analyzed as such. This work addresses part of the Traditional Songbook of San Luis by Dora Ochoa de Masramón, which, although sent in 1967 to a publishing house in Buenos Aires for publication, was lost and remained unpublished. However, a draft survived, and a selection was published in 1999, which we analyze here. The choice was based on the limited knowledge available about Afro–Puntanos and their musical practices. We begin with the state of the art on (Afro)Puntanos; we then describe the work under analysis and its author; we then present and analyze the relevant material, and finally, we offer our conclusions.
