| Sumario: | The Guitarra 42 (GUI42) archaeological site is located in the Guitarra Lake plateau, Santa Cruz Province, protected by the basaltic cliff that runs along its northern edge. The site exhibits abundant archaeological material, most notably rock art and lithic artifacts. In this study, we aim to contextualize new information within the framework of previous archaeological research conducted in the plateau. The results of our analysis highlights GUI42 as a privileged space for the production of engravings in the region, primarily associated with a high frequency of motifs. The available chronologies for the area and the similarities evidenced in the rock art r allow us to date this archaeological to the Late Holocene (last 2,500 years). Finally, the new information is included in prior discussions about settlement patterns and land use. highlighting the Guitarra Plateau in its regional context, in relation to neighboring areas such as the Asador,Aguila and Pampa del Asador Plateaux, among others. |
