| Sumario: | In this article we will analize Juan Moreira, one of the most important plays in the gauchesca genre, first published as a newspaper serial by Eduardo Gutierrez and then released as drama by the same author and José Podestá. We will study the reception in the context of late 19th Century Argentina and the productivity of its myth in the ideology of the time. We will consider as well the changes occurred in its passage from novel to drama. Also, we will approach the productivity that the gauchesca had in the early 20th Century, based on the analysis of the documentary resources found at the Biblioteca Criolla from Robert Lehmann-Nitsche’s legacy. |
