Sumario:In the following work we reflect on the the experience developed in the four year project on Bilingual Inter-Cultural Education (BIE), Education Ministery. We begin making some general points on the context of the project in the ministery area of Compensation Politics, and its complex and simultaneous embeding in issues connected to diversity and inequality. We present then how these issues were present in the developing and in theobstacles of the project in three areas in which we were invloved: in the production of didactic material, in the forming and capacitation of teachers, and in the recollection and sistematization of school experiences working with indiginous groups. From these reflections we try to approach the meanings that the projects of InterCultural Education acquire in the present context., posing our questionings about the foundamentation, the aims and the meanings for the existence of this project in the central decision making unit for educational policy
