Sumario:The purpose of this article is to analyze the role of the principle of\npublicity in criminal investigations related to acts of corruption.\nAs we know, the principle of publicity is traditionally associated with the trial.\nHowever, we must take into account that the number of cases that reach the trial\nis smaller than the number of cases that enter the criminal justice system, and\nthat this trend is deepened in reference to this type of offences. In consequence,\nI understand that it is important to focus on the preliminary investigation, being the procedural stage where, in most cases, the social conflict, that originates the\ncriminal proceeding, is resolved.\nFor these reasons, I will try to highlight the key role that, thanks to the incorporation\nof civil society and the mass media in response to the scourge of corruption,\nthis principle has in the promotion of criminal investigations
