Sumario:The relatively recent expansion in the legal recognition of human rights and the creation of institutions for its enforcement has run in parallel to the massive entry of women into the legal professions. This paper explores women's participation in those courts and discusses the arguments in favour of a more diverse international judiciary. It suggests the need to develop strategies aimed at achieving equality and analyses cases of particular interest.
