This paper analyzes the main consequences that COVID-19 has had on migrant women within the American States, both in terms of their physical and economic autonomy. Following the guidelines of the Inter-American Commission of Women, it is proposed that States should incorporate three cross-cutting approaches into all migration policies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic: i) a Human Rights Based approach; ii) a gender perspective; and iii) intersectionality. Finally, based on the above-mentioned guidelines, the paper concludes with a series of recommendations so that these public policies shall provide a comprehensive response to the needs of migrant women. |
