| Sumario: | The signing of an international Convention on Enforced Disappearances has been a milestone in the establishment of a normative framework for the respect of human rights. The mechanism of urgent actions, submitted by relatives of a disappeared person, their representatives or anyone with a legitimate interest in the matter, allows the Committee to intervene quickly to take appropriate measures. This system is not, however, without its problems. This contribution explains the procedure and emphasizes its potential risks in light of the current multiple challenges in the protection of human rights. |
