| Sumario: | In this work the purpose is to interpret the points of view of indigenous students and their families about secondary school in a context of rurality and interculturality in the province of Salta. From the analysis of the results obtained through surveys, interviews and participant observations, tensions and disputes are noted in relation to the life projects of young people at the end of secondary school. In some cases, the students express a desire to leave their place of origin to continue their studies at a higher level or to look for a job in the city. Their families largely share such future prospects, while at the same time they fear being left “without aid” to sustain productive subsistence activities. As a result, it is highlighted that the compulsory nature of secondary school entails deep transformations, not without conflicts, in family dynamics due to the possible discontinuity of an intergenerational legacy: the projection of life in the countryside, since these young people are the first generation in access this level of education. |
