Sumario:Cities in Latin America and the Caribbean have been built in layers. Territorial inequalities are evident in areas that are inaccessible to everyone, particularly people with disabilities and the elderly. The experience of the city involves a variety of strategies for inhabiting spaces and achieving mobility. The research results, which reflect work carried out in Costa Rican cities, present three central aspects of habitability: protection, orientation, and space organization. These aspects are experienced differently by people with disabilities. This work aims to ensure that these dimensions are considered in the design of spaces, as well as in the use and management of cities, to achieve physical, communication, and information accessibility.
