Sumario:This study relies on a set of 9 in-depth interviews involving single-parent families carried out in Buenos Aires. Collected data was analyzed with a qualitative approach based on the Five Vector systemic model devised by Diaz Usandivaras. Analysis shows the existence of similar features across all different families, such as the bias to constitute over-involved families with open boundaries, the fundamental role within the family system of certain members of the extended family, and the rupture of the parental system as a result of break-up within the conjugal system, with the mother as authority pillar of the normative vertical axis.
